My first attempt to lose weight was in high school my senior year. Now I must tell you I was a very skinny kid, 160 pounds with a lean and athletic build. Football season had just ended and I was about to start my senior season of wrestling. I was a returning varsity starter and I had dreams of winning a state title. My junior year I had wrestled up two weight classes and did pretty good so I thought I would drop weight this year, down to 145 pounds. Now everyone has heard the horror stories about wrestlers starving themselves to make weight and some of them are true. I wish I could say I did it differently but I didn’t. I totally cut out food and was working out like a mad man. See in high school you have to make an official weigh in at the beginning of the season so I had to cut weight fast. Two weeks later I had dropped my twenty pound to qualify for my weight class. Great for me but I had one problem. A huge problem. I had no energy. I couldn’t lift my arms during a match. This was in 1985 and back then we didn’t have the recourses we have today.
Now we know the importance of a proper diet with fresh fruits and vegetables and lean proteins like fish and chicken. Finding the balance between diet and exercise I believe would have benefited me in my goal to claim that state title
Finding the perfect balance is what any good weight lose program should be. Look around the internet and you will find thousands of diets that promise weight lost. You need to find something that will benefit you.
